More charges over Greater Manchester Pc's car death

Two men have been charged in connection with the death of Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officer Mike Silcock.

Thomas Joyce, 28, and Darren Hamilton, 32, have been charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and will appear before Stockport magistrates on 23 July.

A total of five men have now been charged in connection with the death of Pc Silcock.

Pc Silcock, 30, died after he was hit by a car in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, while off-duty on 6 March 2009.

He died from head injuries at Stepping Hill Hospital after the collision on Didsbury Road shortly after 2330 GMT.

Mr Joyce, of Cranwell Drive, Burnage, and Darren Hamilton, of Burnage Lane, Burnage, will appear in court alongside two other men.

Jake Hayes, 22, of HMP Manchester, and Nathan Benson, 20, of HMP Altcourse, face the same charges.

The fifth man Stephen Benson, 25, of no fixed abode, also faces a charge of causing death by dangerous driving and is due before Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on 28 July 2010.
