The family of a man who died after he was stabbed at a house in Salford have paid tribute to him.

Joe Witkowski, 27, was attacked at a house on Wilbraham Road in Walkden early on Sunday morning. He died in the ambulance on the way to hospital.

His family said he was a "funny, caring, loving young man with an infectious smile".

Neil Brook, 32, of Wilbraham Road, Walkden, is charged with his murder and has been remanded in custody.

He is due to appear before Manchester Crown Court on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination concluded Mr Witowski, also of Wilbraham Road, died from multiple injuries.

His family said they were devastated by his death.

"His love for his family was huge, and he visited them everyday with his beloved dog, Ruby, who never left his side," they said in a statement.

"Joe was a strong City fan, with a heart of gold and he would do anything to help anyone.

"He was loved by all his family and all who knew him."
