Manx school playground holiday closure threat
Children on the Isle of Man could be banned from using school grounds during holidays, the Manx education minister has warned.
The threat came after vandals struck at Braddan Primary School on Tuesday when a shed was broken into and football equipment thrown around the yard.
Police are investigating the break-in, the cost of which is being assessed.
Eddie Teare MHK said that if the cuplrits are caught they will be prosecuted.
Mr Teare said: "We will not tolerate vandalism in our school grounds.
"As well as being a nuisance for police and school staff to have to deal with, this ultimately costs the taxpayer money as they have to pay for repairs and replacements.
"Further incidents will mean we have to reconsider our policy of leaving the facilities available for use out of school hours."
