Footage released of man wanted over Bury rape

Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the rape of a woman in Bury.

The 34-year-old was dragged down an alley at the side of Brambles bar on Silver Street, by a man she had met while she was out earlier that night.

The man, who was Asian, in his mid 40s, about 6ft (1.8m) and of medium build with dark hair, then assaulted her, tore off her clothes and raped her.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Attacker's DNA

Greater Manchester Police said officers had a DNA profile of the attacker.

A 54-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of rape has been released.

Det Con Phil Slater, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "Since this attack we have been working tirelessly to find the attacker and now have some CCTV footage of a man I am very keen to identify.

"I would urge people to look closely at the footage and if you think you know this man please call us.

"Even if you are unsure, one call could be the key to identifying him and with the DNA profile we have obtained we can quickly eliminate innocent people."
