Pedestrian, 24, dies when struck by car in Salford

A 24-year-old man died when he was struck by a car as he crossed the road in Salford.

The pedestrian was walking across Trinity Way, between Hampson Street and New Quay Street, at about 0310 BST when he was hit by a blue Mercedes E250.

A 33-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and causing death by dangerous driving.

The area of New Trinity Way around the crash has been closed for police investigation work.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police.
