Greater Manchester Police officer fled drink-drive quiz

A police officer fled after being stopped by a colleague on suspicion of drink-driving in Greater Manchester.

The man, who was off-duty, left his vehicle when he was stopped in Ryder Avenue, Altrincham, on 1 October.

He handed himself in at a police station the following day and was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol and obstructing police.

Greater Manchester Police said the officer had been placed on restricted duties.

He is due to answer bail on 15 November when he could be told whether or not he will face criminal charges.
