New Year's Day Salford murder suspect bailed by police

A 26-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a care worker in Salford on New Year's Day has been released on police bail.

Adam Steele, 23, from Irlam O'Th' Heights, was found by police called to a fight at the junction of Lancaster Road and Orient Road at about 0530 GMT.

He was taken to hospital but died soon afterwards. A post-mortem examination found he died of stab wounds.

The man has been bailed until February pending further inquiries.
