Police seek Salford stabbing victim's identity

Detectives are trying to identify a man who was found stabbed and unconscious on a street in Salford.

The victim was found by an officer out on patrol on Bolton Road, near the junction with Pendlebury Road, on Tuesday night.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his back and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) believe there may have been a disturbance on Pendlebury Road earlier.

Assault victim

Officers found no identification on the man and have been unable to confirm his identity because he has remained unconscious.

He is a man of mixed race, about 25 years old, and was wearing dark clothing.

Det Sgt Rachel Smith said: "We are in the early stages of a police investigation, but it is clear that this man has been the victim of an assault.

"We are not sure who he is. He had no ID on him and he has been unconscious since we found him."

Anyone who knows the man, or saw what happened to him, is asked to contact police.
