Couple tied up by armed robbers at Alderley Edge home

A man and his wife were tied up by armed robbers who stole thousands of pounds worth of jewellery from their house in Alderley Edge.

At least four men forced their way into the house on Macclesfield Road at about 2240 GMT on Wednesday and tied up a 67-year-old man and his wife, aged 66.

The men stole jewellery and the keys to a grey Mercedes, before leaving in the car which was later found in Openshaw.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

'Home invaded'

Det Sgt Adam Alexander from Wilmslow CID said: "The victims were understandably terrified and have been left extremely shaken as a result of this intrusion.

"To have your home invaded in this way affects people for a long time and these men need to be caught."

The man suffered bruising and swelling to his face and body as well as a cut above his eye.

The offenders are described as white and in their early-20s.

They all had balaclavas covering their faces.
