Man hit by Bolton taxi dies in hospital

A man has died after being hit by a taxi in Bolton.

Police were called to reports of the collision on the A666 St Peters Way in the early hours of Saturday.

The 23-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital with a serious head injury but died later that day.

The carriageway was closed for about five hours while emergency services dealt with the incident. Officers are appealing for witnesses.
