Police arrest shop robbery suspects within 40 minutes

Armed police in Manchester swooped on two men 40 minutes after they were suspected of robbing a local shop.

Police were called after Angel's Store in Henderson Street, Levenshulme, was robbed by two men armed with a gun at about 1250 BST on Saturday.

Descriptions were circulated by the responding officer and the suspects were spotted at a house around the corner 25 minutes later.

The men, both 18, were arrested on suspicion of robbery at 1330 BST.

Armed response officers also discovered an imitation firearm at the property.

Det Insp Debbie Dooley said: "This is an excellent result and a great reflection of the team work of GMP."
