Two men quizzed after woman found dead in Leigh

A 28-year-old woman has been found dead at a house in Greater Manchester.

The woman was found at the address on Maple Crescent in Leigh on Tuesday morning, shortly after police were alerted at about 0705 BST.

Two men, aged 30 and 26 and both from Leigh, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are due to be questioned by detectives.

A post-mortem examination to establish how the woman died is due to take place later.

'High-visibility patrols'

Det Ch Insp Bob Tonge, of the major incident team, said: "This investigation is at a very early stage, so I do not want to speculate on what has happened.

"However, I do want to reassure people that we do not believe this was a random incident and we have a team of detectives working on this.

"Whenever a serious incident like this occurs the local community is understandably concerned.

"As a result we have placed high-visibility patrols into the area to provide a reassuring presence."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
