Fourteen hurt as minibus and car collide in Prestwich

Fourteen people have been injured in a collision between a minibus and a car in Prestwich.

The minibus, carrying nine people, collided with a Ford Focus with five people inside on Bury New Road in Sedgley Park at about 0215 BST.

Four people in the minibus had to be cut free by firefighters at the scene.

None of the injuries are believed to be life threatening. A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said the force was investigating.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fourteen people in total were injured as a result of the collision, two with severe head injuries.

"All the casualties were treated at the scene by trauma technicians and paramedics before being taken to hospital for further examination."
