Man critical after hit-and-run in Stockport

A man has been critically injured in a hit-and-run in Greater Manchester.

The 28-year-old was crossing Wellington Road South in Stockport at about 2305 BST on Sunday when he was struck by a silver or grey Peugeot 206.

He suffered head injuries and a broken leg and broken arm. He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening.

Police are now searching for the vehicle, which drove off in the direction of Hazel Grove.

A spokesman said it was likely to have suffered extensive damage to the front passenger side.
