Paramedic injured in Baguley brick attack

A paramedic was hit in the face with a brick in south Manchester.

The 47-year-old man was sitting in his rapid response vehicle on Brooks Drive, Baguley when a concrete block was thrown through the window.

He was struck with the brick after getting out of the vehicle to confront two youths, who ran off towards the Bromwood estate.

Det Insp Kevin Marriot said the attack on 28 April, which left the man with minor injuries, "defied belief".

'Deplorable attack'

The attackers are both described as being white, aged about 16, slim and wearing hooded jumpers.

"It is inexcusable to attack anyone in this way but to target an emergency worker defies belief," said Mr Marriot.

"The offenders just might need the emergency services one day and I hope they don't find assistance delayed because the person sent to help them has been subjected to an unprovoked and violent assault.

"If anyone knows those responsible for this deplorable attack please contact us in confidence."
