Teenager stabbed in gang attack in Newton Heath

An 18-year-old man has been treated for a stab wound to his neck after he was attacked by a gang in Manchester.

The man was stabbed after a series of arguments on Tetlow Street and Cloughton Walk in Newton Heath at about 0630 BST on Saturday.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital where his injuries were described as not life-threatening.

Three men, aged 19, 23 and 24 have been arrested over the stabbing and are being interviewed in custody.

Det Insp Richard Eales said: "This appears to be an isolated incident that has happened following a dispute between a group of people.

"It will obviously be of concern to members of our community that a bladed weapon of some description was used, but I want to assure people we are doing everything we can to establish the circumstances.

"We know there were a number of other people in the surrounding area at this time who may have seen what happened."
