Huge warehouse fire at Georgia Pacific under control

A large fire that broke out at a warehouse in Greater Manchester has been brought under control.

At its height, 50 firefighters tackled the blaze at Georgia Pacific, off Lockett Road in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.

Smoke from the fire which broke out at about 0320 BST could be seen 10 miles away.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said 20 firefighters remained at the scene to damp it down.

A spokesman said there was no danger to the public and no other buildings were at risk.

An investigation is under way into the cause of the fire.
