Sex attack on lone woman jogger in Bolton

A jogger has been sexually assaulted by a man who grabbed her as she was running back to her home in Bolton.

The 21-year-old woman was jogging past Asda in Burnden Park towards the A666 when she noticed a man was following her at about 2215 BST on Wednesday.

As she ran through a group of trees, the man caught her and sexually assaulted her.

The woman managed to get away from the attacker who ran off towards the supermarket.

A police spokesman said that the man "was going in and out of trees and occasionally appearing in front of her" before he carried out his attack.

"The victim was left badly shaken," he added.

"Incidents like this are rare in the area and we think there may have been people driving past who remember seeing a man acting suspiciously."

The offender is described as being a white, slim man in his late teens with light coloured hair and green or grey eyes.

He was wearing a grey horizontal striped hooded top with a zip.
