Whalley Range burglar breaks into child's bedroom

A burglar broke into a child's bedroom in a flat in Manchester, before being confronted by the youngster's mother and fleeing, police have said.

The man climbed into the flat in Clarendon Road, Whalley Range while the three-year-old was asleep.

The mother, 28, heard noises coming from the bedroom and disturbed the intruder who fled out of the window.

The incident happened on Tuesday. Police released the details on Sunday to try to catch the man.

He is described as white, 5ft 10ins (1.8m), of medium build, with a shaved head and wearing a beige top and jeans.

Det Sgt Scott Halsall, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "It is easy for any parent to understand just how frightened this mother was to find an intruder breaking in through her child's bedroom.

"It was night time but still fairly early and there's the potential plenty of people were out and about so please have a think and if you know or saw something relevant, please contact me."
