Van driver sought over injured boy in Stockport

The driver of a van which hit a seven-year-old boy on a Stockport road is being sought by police.

The driver stopped and waited with the child who appeared to only have minor injuries until his carer arrived, but then drove off, police said.

The boy suffered a fractured skull and bleeding to the brain in the incident on Hyde Road, Woodley, on Tuesday at 1750 BST.

Police said they need the man's details to conduct a "thorough" inquiry.

The boy's injuries are not life-threatening.
