Police interviewing a man arrested under the Terrorism Act in Bolton on Wednesday have been granted a warrant to continue questioning him.

Officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit have been allowed to detain the 25-year-old until 15 June.

People arrested under the Terrorism Act can initially be detained for 48 hours without charge and for up to seven days with a further detention warrant.

Officers are also searching houses on Bardon Close Halliwell, Bolton.

A police spokesman said that there "is no evidence to suggest that any communities in the Greater Manchester area are at risk in connection with the alleged offences under investigation".
