Ancoats disused buildings destroyed by fire

About 40 firefighters have brought a blaze under control at two disused buildings in Manchester city centre.

Crews were called just before 0200 BST to the buildings in Tariff Street, Ancoats, which have been destroyed.

Port Street and Tariff Street which were closed throughout the morning have now reopened.

The fire service said crews left the scene at about 1200 BST and an investigation into the cause is under way.

The roofs and windows of the buildings have been burnt away.
