Man charged over rabbit torture in Eccles pub

A 22-year-old man has been charged over the torture of a rabbit at a pub in Greater Manchester.

The young rabbit was smashed on a table before being set alight in the beer garden of the Eccles Cross pub in Regent Street, Eccles, on 18 June.

The man is charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and using words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

He is due before Salford magistrates court later.

Officers found the rabbit, which had been marked by a lighter. Its neck had also been broken.
