Ashton-Under-Lyne residents told to close windows
Residents in Greater Manchester are being told to keep their windows closed after a fire at a recycling plant.
Crews were called to Texas Road, in Ashton-Under-Lyne, at 2030 GMT on Thursday where a pile of rubbish had caught fire.
Firefighters are damping down at the scene but a plume of smoke at the site was still being reported.
A fire service spokesman said: "We're telling people to keep their doors and windows closed until it disperses."
He added: "But it is quite a still morning and the smoke is lingering."
