Man charged over Salford copper cable theft bid

A man has been charged over the attempted theft of copper cable from a sub station in Greater Manchester.

The 46-year-old, of Little Hulton in Salford, has been charged with burglary. He is due before Salford magistrates in September.

It follows a man being badly burned in Rake Lane, Clifton, in the early hours of 16 June.

He was taken to Wythenshawe hospital with burns to his face, neck, hands and knees. He is still being treated.

A 50-year-old man was arrested nearby on suspicion of theft and has been released on bail until 11 August.
