Gunman threatens jewellery staff at Oldham shop

A robber brandishing a gun threatened staff at a shop in Greater Manchester before fleeing with jewellery.

The man burst into a store in Manchester Street, Oldham at about 10:30 BST on Friday.

He jumped over the counter and as a member of staff ran to press the alarm he pointed the gun at the worker's face. He then stole jewellery items.

The robber was described as about 5ft 7in (1.7m) and of medium build. He wore dark clothing, a hood and scarf.

Det Insp Dave Massey, of Greater Manchester Police, said: "This man walked into the shop armed with a weapon, showing this was a premeditated attempt to rob the shop and frighten staff.

"I would urge anyone who was walking along Manchester Street at the time of the robbery and who may have seen something to contact as soon as possible."
