Leigh hit-and-run crash leaves cyclist 'horrifically' injured

A man has been left with what police have called "horrific life-changing injuries" after a hit-and-run crash in Greater Manchester.

The driver of a red Daihatsu Sirion failed to stop after colliding with a 22-year-old cyclist on Greenfold Way, Leigh, at 14:30 BST on Friday.

After the crash, the car - registration YX03 YFD - was found abandoned and on fire in Hooten Lane.

Police urged anyone with information to contact them.

The cyclist was taken to hospital and treated for serious leg injuries.

Sgt Lee Westhead said: "This collision has left a man with horrific life-changing injuries and the driver left the scene without any regard for the condition the cyclist was in."
