Five arrests over Hyde Audi A3 car theft raid

A woman whose house was raided by three masked men tried to prevent them from taking her Audi A3 car by grabbing her keys and fleeing her home, police said.

One of the raiders caught up with the 43-year-old, snatched her keys and drove off from the house on Dowson Road, Hyde, Greater Manchester.

The car was later found abandoned in Hollingworth after the raid at 11:10 BST on Friday.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police said four men aged 20, 21, 26 and 36, were arrested on suspicion of robbery and a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders.

Insp Dave Loughlin said: "There is no doubt that the victim would have feared for her safety and in some ways we are fortunate that she wasn't badly injured in the tussle for the keys.

"She was treated for shock and was seriously shaken up by what happened."
