Salford armed burglars assault blind and disabled girl

A blind and disabled 12-year-old girl was assaulted during an armed burglary in Salford, police have revealed.

Three men, armed with a knife and meat cleaver, broke into a house on Dorset Road late on 23 August.

The girl was grabbed by the throat and told to be quiet. An 18-year-old man and 43-year-old woman were then threatened at knifepoint.

The intruders demanded cash but fled empty-handed, police said. Officers are appealing for information.

The offenders were described as white, with one thought to be about 17 years old and the other two in their 20s.

Det Con Gareth Mark said: "A normal evening for a completely innocent family has been interrupted in the most horrendous way.

"Three men, armed with knives, have burst into their home and physically attacked a young, vulnerable girl who was alone in her bedroom."
