A man suffered multiple fractures to his skull when he was attacked following a row on a Manchester bus.

The man was assaulted after an argument on a bus on Wilmslow Road in Rusholme at 22:05 BST on Sunday, travelling from Piccadilly to Didsbury.

The victim, in his 30s, was taken to hospital with multiple facial fractures. He remains in a serious but stable condition, police have said.

Police have released images of two men they believe may have been involved.

Det Insp Graham Atherton said: "We are unsure of the full circumstances which led to a man suffering severe injuries to his face and we are appealing for anyone who may have seen these two men to contact us immediately.

"We are especially keen to speak to a man and woman who were on the 9.40pm bus which was travelling along Wilmslow Road and who may have witnessed the assault."
