Murder arrest over man's death at Bury house

A man is being questioned on suspicion of murder after an attack at a house in Bury.

Police found a 48-year-old man collapsed and with cuts to his neck when they were called to the house in Merton Road at about 04:30 BST.

Ambulance staff tried to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Det Supt Neil Evans from Greater Manchester Police said: "There is now an active crime scene at the address and the area has been cordoned off while the forensic investigation continues throughout the day.

"I would urge the local community not to worry as this is an isolated incident and I would urge anyone who may have seen anything suspicious to contact us."
