A mother and baby were critically injured when the car they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Greater Manchester.

The Renault Scenic left the road at the junction of Barton Road and Worsley Road in Worsley at about 02:20 BST.

A mother and father and three children were taken to Salford Royal Hospital. The man and two other children suffered less serious injuries, police said.

The baby has since been transferred to Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
