The trial of Manchester City footballer Carlos Tevez over alleged driving offences has been adjourned for a week.

The Argentine striker's Bentley Continental was allegedly caught travelling at 38mph in a 30mph zone in Chester Road, Stretford, in February.

He is charged with failing to notify the authorities who was driving at the time, which he denies.

Mr Tevez, 27, of Prestbury, Cheshire, did not attend the hearing at Oldham Magistrates' Court.

It was adjourned until 21 September.

The alleged incident happened on 12 February, shortly after City had lost the derby at Old Trafford.
