Pendlebury hospital site homes plans considered by Salford Council

Plans to build 229 new homes on the site of the former Royal Manchester Children's Hospital at Pendlebury are being considered by Salford council.

Joint developers Taylor Wimpey and Barratt Homes have submitted an application to build 205 houses and 24 apartments on the 17-acre site.

The submission includes public spaces, car parking and access roads.

The site on Manchester Road and Bolton Road has outline planning permission for 300 homes.

The hospital was closed in 2009 when its staff and equipment were transferred to the new £500m Royal Manchester Children's Hospital on Oxford Road, Manchester.
