Manchester United fans are behind a billboard that pokes fun at Carlos Tevez's rift with Roberto Mancini.

The digital poster, in central Manchester, parodies one paid for by City fans when the Argentinian joined the club from United in 2009.

It shows Tevez sitting on the bench with the slogan 'Welcome to Carlos Manchester'.

The image, paid for by Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST), is designed as a "warm-hearted message".

It was due to appear near Piccadilly Gardens from 16:00 to 20:00 BST.

The original billboard showed the striker celebrating a goal and read 'Welcome to Manchester Carlos'.

MUST added it was "from some old friends."

A spokesperson for the group said: "It is just a bit of fun from MUST having a little dig back at our noisy neighbours following their infamous poster when Tevez signed for City.

"As always, Fergie's managerial judgement is proved right in the end."

Tevez has been suspended by his club pending an investigation into his apparent refusal to come off the bench during City's 2-0 defeat by Bayern Munich, on Tuesday.
