Drugs worth £1m seized from car near Manchester

Drugs worth £1m have been seized by police from a car near Manchester.

Four kilos of white powder, believed to be cocaine, were found in a black Saab on the M56 south west of the city on 27 September.

Greater Manchester Police stopped the car after receiving reports that the driver had been seen with a gun.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs with intent to supply and has been bailed pending further inquiries.

No gun was found in the car.

Insp Andrew Watkins, said: "As soon as we received reports of a suspect vehicle, a description was circulated and one matching the description was soon spotted.

"Thanks to the diligence and professionalism of officers on duty, a car was stopped and we have recovered a massive quantity of drugs, no doubt destined for the street."
