Charges after elderly Wigan man conned out of £12k

Three men have been charged after an elderly man paid thousands of pounds for work which was never carried out at his Greater Manchester home.

The 83-year-old man, from Wigan, handed over £12,000 for the non-existent work. Another man, 73, overpaid for painting work, police said.

Three men, aged 19, 37, and 39 and from Lower Ince, were all due to appear before Wigan magistrates on Monday.

Police have urged anyone with any information to contact them.
