Six vehicle crash on M6 in Cheshire causes delays

A crash involving six vehicles caused major delays on the M6 in Cheshire.

Cheshire Police said a lorry jack-knifed across the central reservation and was in collision with five vehicles around 16:30 BST.

It took place between Junction 21 at Woolston and Junction 21a at Croft Interchange, where the M62 and M6 meet.

Two drivers, a man and woman, from two of the cars were taken to Warrington Hospital with injuries which were not thought to be serious.

There were no other casualties.

The emergency services had to deal with an extensive oil spill over the northbound carriageway.

Traffic on both carriageways was affected with the main southbound carriageway closed, although vehicles used the hard shoulder directed by police.

Work was ongoing to remove the vehicles, clear the spillage, and make the necessary repairs to the central barrier, Cheshire Police said.
