Man in court on arson charge after Heywood house fire

A 24-year-old man has appeared in court charged with arson in relation to a fire at a house in Greater Manchester.

Emergency services were called to the property in Olive Street, Heywood, at 02:20 BST on Saturday.

Four people inside the house - a 24-year-old man, a woman, a four-year-old child and a baby - were taken to hospital after smoke inhalation.

Carl Reeves, Gaskill Street, Heywood, was remanded in custody to appear at Bolton Crown Court on 14 November.

Those in hospital have all since been discharged.
