Police investigating the rape of a woman in Greater Manchester have released an e-fit of the suspect.

The 39-year-old woman was approached from behind as she walked down an alleyway leading from Moorside Road to Carrsvale Avenue in Flixton.

The attacker pushed her to the floor and raped her at about 14:50 BST on Tuesday 25 October.

He was described as black, with jet black eyes and a horizontal scar on the right side of his chin.

'Awful attack'

He is also said to have a cleft lip, was about 5ft 9in (1.8m) tall and of stocky build.

Police officers are carrying out house-to-house inquiries and additional patrols in the area, as well as looking through CCTV to try and identify the offender.

Supt Simon Retford said: "We have worked extensively with the victim to create this likeness of the attacker and we would like people to take a good look and think whether this reminds you of anyone.

"This was an awful attack on a lone woman in the middle of the day and the victim has obviously been left deeply distressed by this incident."
