Man injured in Manchester Airport tunnel crash
A motorist has been seriously injured in a vehicle collision in a tunnel running under Manchester Airport.
The crash involved a van and a car and happened at about 05:40 GMT on Tuesday on the A538.
Fire crews cut a man from the car and he was taken to hospital in a serious condition.
Insp Andy Watkins said police were "investigating the possibility that the car could have been driving on the wrong side of the road".
The A538 has been closed near the crash in both directions and the airport tunnel has also been temporarily closed.
The driver of the van was also taken to hospital, but his condition is not serious.
Mr Watkins said he was "keen to hear from anyone who saw either of these two vehicles driving near the airport area this morning".
