Armed raiders take only Monster Munch at Little Hulton shop

Robbers armed with a hammer and axe burst into a Greater Manchester newsagent and made off with only a bag of Monster Munch crisps.

The raiders struck at a Sammy's in Manchester Road East, Little Hulton at 17:25 GMT on Sunday.

They demanded cash but fled empty handed, before returning and stealing the crisps.

"The quantity of goods stolen in no way lessens the seriousness of this crime," Pc Lucy Pearson said.

"It was armed robbery, plain and simple."

One of the robbers was described as white, 6ft (1.9m), and was wearing a black hooded top over a blue hooded top.

The other was described as white, 5ft 5in (1.5m) and was wearing a grey Nike hooded jumper and balaclava.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Greater Manchester Police or Crimestoppers.
