Man arrested over Bury shooting

A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with shooting a man in the leg in Bury.

Police were called at about 21:30 GMT on Thursday after a 30-year-old man was shot at a house in Walmesley Road.

The man is in hospital receiving treatment for the wound and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Ch Supt Jon Rush, of Bury Police, said they were taking the incident "very seriously".

He said: "We have made one arrest but we are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward and I would urge anyone who may have seen something suspicious to get in touch."
