Forty four charged in Greater Manchester after raids

Forty four people have been charged with drugs offences following raids in Greater Manchester which members of the public were invited to watch.

Residents, members of community groups and sixth-form students were taken in minibuses to see the raids in Salford, Manchester, Stockport and Bolton.

One thousand officers raided 100 properties and arrested 75 people.

Those that have been charged are due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court later.

The remainder have been released on bail or released without charge, a police spokesman said.
