Ten-car crash closes M66 near Bury

Ten cars crashed on the M66 in Greater Manchester, leading to the motorway being closed for more than two hours.

Police said the collision happened on the northbound carriageway between junction one at Ramsbottom and junction two at Bury at about 05:40 GMT.

One person was taken to Fairfield Hospital but no-one is believed to have been seriously injured.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene and motorists were advised to find alternative routes.

A stretch of the motorway was closed for more than two hours until it was cleared by the Highways Agency and re-opened at about 08:05 GMT.
