Salford fire closes neighbouring rail line

A fire at a garage on an industrial estate resulted in rail services between Salford and Bolton being suspended.

The blaze involving tyres and a gas canister broke out at 00:12 GMT, at Cheltenham Street, Pendleton.

The railway line which neighbours the site and goes through Blackburn and Barrow, was re-opened at about 07:00 GMT after the canister was made safe.
