Bolton motorcyclist Paul Couperthwaite dies in collision

A motorcyclist has died following a collision with a car in Bolton.

Paul Couperthwaite's Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Vauxhall Vectra on Deane Road near the junction with Blackshaw Lane at about 22:00 GMT on Monday.

The 18-year-old from Bolton was taken to hospital but died soon after.

A 35-year-old man who was driving the Vectra was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and bailed pending further inquiries.

Sgt Lee Westhead from Greater Manchester Police said: "An investigation has now been launched to determine the cause of this tragic collision.

"Our thoughts are with the rider's family, who are being supported by specially trained officers.

"I would appeal to anyone who saw the collision or who has any information whatsoever, to contact us as soon as possible."
