Police inspector Mohammed Razaq charged with fraud

A senior Greater Manchester Police officer has been charged in an investigation into insurance and mortgage fraud.

Insp Mohammed Razaq, of Bradford Road, Bolton, was charged with six offences of fraud and three offences under the Proceeds of Crime Act, police said.

Mr Razaq, who led the Bolton West neighbourhood team, has been suspended from duty.

The 53-year-old is due to appear before Trafford magistrates on 24 January.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said another 52 year-old-man and a woman, 53, who were also arrested in the inquiry would not face any further action.
