Salford man in 'serious condition' after machete attack
A man has been left seriously injured after being attacked with knives and machetes during a break-in at his house in Salford.
Officers responded to calls of armed intruders at a house on Haddon Street, Charlestown on Tuesday night.
A 33-year-old resident been stabbed several times. His 35-year-old neighbour had also been stabbed in the hand during a separate break-in.
Both men were taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.
The 33-year-old was said to be in a "serious but stable condition".
The man's dog was also injured in the attack and was recovering after treatment.
Supt Mark Kenny said the offenders had fled before armed officers arrived.
He said: "The investigation is at an early stage. We also have extra officers in the area today to reassure residents, so if anyone has any concerns, please speak to us."
