Manchester Airport trains resume after death delay

Services from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport have resumed after a man was hit by a train at a railway station in the city.

The incident happened at East Didsbury station shortly after 14:00 GMT.

The man was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary with serious head injuries but was confirmed dead on arrival.

British Transport Police said it was investigating how the man came to be on the line. Trains are now running normally.

Trains were suspended until mid-evening.
